I have a huge appreciation for Henry.
#1 He is still alive when so many from that era are not.
#2 Panic was the first punk band I saw at Redondo Beach that a shaved head Henry was in. As Black Flag I saw them live at Gazzaris and later at Devonshire Downs on September 11, 1981. The line up was :Black Flag, The Stains, Fear, Caustic Cause and Youth Gone Mad. He wore Vans slip ons.
#3 I still have the 45 of Louie Louie Henry handed to me at a later date.
#4 I was back at CSUN Downs in 1983 and Henry was front and center playing.
My neighbors on Longridge Ave at the time gave me an invite. They called themselves the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They moved when one of the band members decided a living room is a good place for target practice. Nothing a little toothpaste would not fill a 38 caliber hole with.
From 1981 through end of 1983 the Battle Of The Bands were on and regularly in the Punk scene. More and more new music entered the scene with rock hair bands and new wave. Devonshire Downs is now part of the CSUN property. A lot has changed.
Henry was living close to another friend of mine in Nichols Canyon. I think the home was for sale during the great plague. I have run into him a few times in passing and he has aged well. As fas as music he has really backed away and pursued other outlets for his talents.
