A simple start would be to prosecute all gun crimes and punish to the fullest extent of the laws currently on the books. New laws mean nothing. Secondarily, or equally, do something about the mental health crisis.

I am a responsible gun owner and am smart enough to know that as long as guns are available you will NEVER be able to stop ALL shootings . But how do we get better ? If we as a nation set a goal to reduce mass shootings by 50% is that achievable ?
In my opinion as a nation we can't keep sending our children to school to be slaughtered . It doesn't matter if it's first grade or college . The toll this takes on society is high . I am NOT suggesting in any way that this is a single government parties issue . This is a society issue when innocent lives are taken .
I really hope the answer isn't there's nothing we can do and live with it ( or die from it ) .
