2019 - 2023

Let's see, August 2019 to February 2023.... World's changed a bit the past few years! Figured I'd try to do a summary of the various projects on the '86 since 2019.

Late in 2019 I replaced the stock seats with Recaro's, in addition to new carpet - no more musty old car smell!

In January 2020, I replaced the pathetic stock gauge lights with LED's - huge improvement and easy project.

In March of 2020 I attended my first Hill Country Rallye in Kerrville, Texas. Absolutely amazing event - it's air-cooled heaven for sure. Right after the Rallye, Covid took off and everything locked down. Not much to report during that time. I did what most others did - I made bread, I gained weight, I lost weight, I questioned my sanity... I went on a few social distanced drives with some Porsche buddies in my area, which was a nice way to get out of the house.

Over the next couple years, I enjoyed the car quite a bit. I didn't do too much myself, but outsourced a fair amount to Einar's Garage in Houston. They took care of the transmission rebuild, suspension refresh, sun roof rebuild, and replacing the fuel lines.

At this point the car is pretty solid mechanically, but cosmetically it needs a lot of love. The paint is very rough but I'm not ready to pull the trigger on a full re-spray. In the near future I'm hoping to remove the wing and have the front bumper resprayed to limp the current paint job along for a while. More to come!
