A cross country ride on a (lovely) SS will test your bones like nothing else. I’d be inclined to simply ship it, ride and tinker for a bit before such an ambitious endeavor. But YMMV.
Loved and miss my 95 SS/CR…but after a few hours I was ready for a bit of R and R.
Congrats on the buy. She looks great.
