I'm very sorry for your loss, Dave. Thank you for your wonderful and heartfelt tribute and more so for your father's service to our country.

Sounds like his passing was a blessing, given his failing health.

German heritage and generational military service on my Dad's side here as well. My grandfather was also a machinist at the Brooklyn Navy Shipyard and rode his bike to work everyday with tool box on shoulder.

Same qualities as your father I'm sure.

Mom, also a WW II vet. - just turned 100 last Monday. And I'm as proud of her as you were of your father.
