I know I ran the numbers when it came time to address my dead Bosch CDI and, it was cheaper and did not present a downgrade in performance.

Many of the original Permatunes ('76 911) rarely fail, and if they do are easily repaired.
The typical Bosch CDI repair is less the $300.
