One summer we were looking for a replacement driver for one of our milk routes. I had several guys try out only to bail after a day or so. Finally one of the candidates seemed to be the one: willing to work and on the ball enough to figure things out. After a few days, back at the office, the boss told me we couldn't hire him. He had a criminal record and couldn't be bonded.
That sucked, for both of us.
