Hey Paul......it would help to see a pic or two of what you're dealing with.
Secondly - I've never had any problems with insects but I have had an Anole find their way into a hose and then when the water comes on they are jammed into the orifices of my nozzle. I've since learned to run the water out of the hose end before attaching my nozzle....just in case.
