Growing up in a part of the country where coconut trees are plenty, I've had them fresh off the tree, and used the inner shell to scrape the young coconut "meat" (endosperm?).
Moving to the city I stopped having fresh coconut juice, except for the rare occasion when a restaurant serves them.
Then it was hyped in the late 2000's, early 10's as some miracle drink and a lot of brands sprung up with diluted coconut water and sugared coconut water.
Now I just get a few cans for free from the office.
