BTW: here's a photo of the wiring. In the interest of not self-combusting as I drove down the highway, I took a look. The only wire near the parking brake is this one wrapped heavily in black fabric tape. It is actually under the carpet (pulled back for photo). So I suppose it is possible one could jam the parking brake all the way to the floor several thousand times, eventually wear thru the carpet, wear thru the protective tape, and then wear thru the wire insulation ....... can never be too safe.
