I’ve been avoiding the fan hub bearing replacement job with the excuse of cleaning out and setting up the garage. I was nervous about pressing out the existing bearing.
Well, looks like I was worried for nothing. The fan is junk:
Definitely a bad bearing!
Good news is I found the fan at Rose Passion for $419 including 2-day shipping and I can return the $180 bearing because the fan comes with it. All in all, not too bad.
Reman alternators for this car are not really available at the moment, so while I'm working on the front shocks, I'm going to have a local alt shop rebuild this one before I put is all back together.
For kicks I pressed the old bearing out of the old fan for the experience. All went well. I was also able to pull the fan off the alternator without issue. I think I might enjoy this new wrenching hobby.
