FYI, Fiskarflugen bought this dash after a lengthy phone discussion where I asked about his expectations and described the condition to the best of my ability. I wanted to avoid shipping but instead spent a bunch of time finding an appropriate box and packing it well for him. Upon receipt he thanked me for the excellent packing and that the dash looked great (awesome news). Nearly 3 months go by and then out of nowhere he starts aggressively texting me that the dash is “unusable” and wanting his money back. I decided to call him and see what made it “unusable” as it came right out of a friends car and sent him pics of it installed. Turns out instead of just using it as discussed he removed the leather. Bottom line, there was some warping in the instrument hood section that was not to his liking after peeling off the leather. I explained to him that this type of distortion is pretty standard on a leather dash and that most are far worse in several other areas as well. I concluded our conversation by saying I am sorry you are unhappy but you got what you paid for, it was sold as-is, and there will be no refund.
Even though he paid through PayPal friends and family months prior he was still somehow able to do a dispute/chargeback via his bank credit card. I responded with all the facts via the PayPal dispute process and they said they wouldn’t even have allowed the dispute but it was up to his bank (really?). In the end his bank decided in his favor and he was refunded all his money including the transaction fee he paid and I got charged a dispute fee on top of that via PayPal. So now he has my dash (that he destroyed), and more money than I received to begin with (aka theft). I called him and left a message that this is unacceptable. Instead of returning the call like I did for him he blocked me on his phone (lame). I later messaged him here on Pelican which he has 100% read and still no response (super lame). Lastly, I emailed him directly asking for resolution and radio silence (unbelievable).
I feel this was a disgraceful way to handle the situation on his part and just wanted to put it out there. Also, just a heads up that apparently PayPal friends and family can be disputed through the senders bank and charged back (aka friendly fraud).
