If we set aside a gas leak I'd bet on a dust explosion. When I was working for Warner Lambert one of our factories exploded due to dust accumulation in the air ducts.

Wow! I understand that dust under the wrong circumstances can be dangerous causing explosions due to the fast burning. I have to assume that requires the right kind of dust. I'm not sure if cocao powder would do that or not, but then I guess a 70 year old building could have a lot of regular old dust.
