When our Maytag's rack started to deteriorate, I cleaned the areas effected and coated them with white silicon caulk like you'd use for a bathtub. Has worked well as it has stayed put and the rusting seems to have quit. I actually cut out the bad parts as they weren't all that big and made sure to seal the ends of where I'd cut.
I'd take a picture for you but the dishwasher is actually running right now so I can't.
And our dishwasher is easily 10 years older than yours is.
