Pray tell what makes you think that.
Is it the <$750 paint job I did at home?
The $50 I paid to weld up the rear bumper?
The $100 I spent on food to feed my friends who came and helped me sand the car or to help me do bodywork? (before and after paint)
The engine harness I built myself?
The EFI I've tuned myself with help from friends?
The suspension I've installed myself?
The trans work I've traded my work for or done myself?
The windows I've installed myself?
The engine I rebuilt at home?
I've spent about the same on my (basically fully-built) car (over 5+ years) that you can buy a worn-out, stock example for today.
I challenge you to build a car to this extent on 150% of what I've spent.
I dare you to try.
