Set up charges for custom molding used to be $150 + the lumber + the time. It penciled if you needed more than 100'. Barely. 200 feet or more and it became better.
Home centers are the worst place to buy real wood moldings. Case in point, I was gong to do some crown for a customer. One room maybe 50'. Bought right, of course. By that I mean 16' or 12's, whatever gave the best yield. HD (at the time) was $3.69 per foot for finger joint. The lumber yard was 85 cents. Which ain't cheap. Have no idea now.
Any molding house catering to the mcmansion builders has your stop.
