Somehow, there's software capable of allowing an operator to mask out Jerry Lewis' face, insert Jim Carrey's and correctly mimic all the original facial expressions, color shifts, etc.

It's called "Deep Fakes". They can now be run real-time on basic home computers.
Social media companies like Tik-Tok have had these types of "face filters" for a few years.
So basically:
Everything you see on the computer screen should be taken with a grain of doubt and consideration.
Even when it's some idea you really agree with.
