considering the how the carb'd early YJ wranglers (87-90) 4.2 straight sixes are problematic for emissions and reliability an early 80's rig like that could be an issue. not to mention fuel economy, or lack there of. The YJ's improved in leaps and bounds in 91 when the 4.oL FI models were introduced. I got my 93 smog tested last week and at 111k miles and original cat I was amazed at how far under the testing limits it was.
remember, the early SC's had more horse power than the card'd vettes of the same era.
