Getting my 911 ready for the 3,000 mile summer trip. I change the brake fluid every spring, for the last 27 years, so that was first up. New ATE Type 200, done.
Next the fuel filter had 20,000 miles so time for a new filter. After 27 years of ownership there is very little I can blame on previous owners. One of them is the fuel filter lower fitting. I am pretty sure the Terminator or a gorilla tighten up the fitting. I try every time, and it will not budge. I never remembered to get to it with the engine out. So I have to just remove the adapter off the bottom of the new one, and rotate the filter off of the line connection. It works and does not leak.
Next up in an oil change. All easy tasks with the car up on my scissor lift. Just a few more regular maintenance items before the trip to Palm Springs.
Oh yea, I will have to replace the AC compressor and Receiver Dryer. The compressor nose seal is throwing oil. I will for sure need max AC in Palm Springs in June. The compressor has been on there since 2008 and 70,000 miles. This will be the first time I have had to touch it since then. It lives a hard life. I never just roll the windows down, and my sunroof has been opened 3 times since I bought the car. So the heater or the AC is on if I am driving it, except on track.
