Half of all doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class.

At the same time, we really only hear about the outliers.
You never hear about the thousands of patients that have procedures every day that have a good outcome.
Is the profession perfect? Far from it.
But at least in my experience- of 40+ years- I have never personally seen a case as reported above. (And I was on the medical complaint/review committee for years at our hospital.)
But I will say, it seems things are getting a little worse.
