I don't think so since part of them is a nylon mesh sort of stuff.

Yep, that's exactly what I think has happened. And it's not uncommon for us to be very soggy if we get a bunch of rain. We got >8" of rain in Apr, and we've had 3" in the past week, so the yard is really soggy.
I've got a pair of rubber work boots that were ~$15 at a hardware store. They certainly keep the water out, but they aren't nearly as comfortable or functional as the Merrells.
I'll email the company and see what they say. I doubt it, but maybe they'll want to send me a new pair.
