You know, i used to think i needed a 1/2 ton truck as well. When the frame rusted on the F 150, I reflected on how ofter I had carried a serious load. After some thought, I added a hitch to the wife's Golf wagon and hook up a trailer for the times I need to carry something larger. If the load is too big for the trailer, I rent.
No regrets. Your situation may be vastly different.
