In this strange world, one of the larger HVAC companies in the area has a main office 300 yards from our facility in an industrial area. The owner is a customer in our boatyard where we have refinished the woodwork on his $600K try-hull pontoon boat. As a hobby, he makes prop cars. Scooby Doo van, Duke of Hazzard etc.. A couple of month ago he bought a 40s twin engine plane for his other workshop on a major road, and set it up as a lawn ornament. Installed the wings and engines, up on its gear, and had a guy polish the aluminum so it looks new, and painted logos, tail etc... BatSH!@ crazy $$s for something just to part out front.
Fast forward to last month when I see through my office window a flatbed truck go by with a F-XXX on it. After lunch I ran some errands, and the same guy bought and plopped down on his HVAC HQ a 1960s F-101 Voodoo nuclear fighter bomber...for lawn art.
How much $$ do you have to have for your yard gnome to be a USAF fighter?
