Mebbe not... it was around that time, I was living down in Jax, FL and SRV was opening up for Hall & Oates. I passed .... knew he had hit "rock bottom" due to massive amounts of cocaine and alcohol, every day. Guy who worked across from me went, and confirmed..... so drunk he could barely stand, much less play.
But he kicked his demons and returned .... his last album with Double Trouble and his collaboration with his brother Jimmie were solid.
We were on a boat fishing 5 miles off of Mayport a few years later having a grand ol' time when we heard on the radio about the plane crash and his death ..... talk about a bummer
. He had so much left after cleaning up his act and getting sober.... just tragic.
