^^^ I don't think it really matters. Every summer, I have Mandevilla plants on the deck and the hummingbirds are all over those. The feeder just makes it easy for them to fill up.
Just a few minutes after I posted about seeing only one...a female discovered the jelly also. The male that had been there the last couple days is larger and not as brilliant colored as the female. The male also makes a lot of noise with it's call and the female didn't once make a sound. (speaking of the Orioles)
