I volunteered to be part of the beta project for the new H4 LED bulb replacement put on by Audette. I selected the Philips LED bulbs.
The first thing I noticed is that these things are really heavy. There's a substantial heatsink on the back of the bulb - although I hesitate to call it a bulb since it's basically a shaped circuit board - and a control box.
It sticks out the back of the reflector, but not so far that there isn't room within the headlight bucket to fit both it and the control box.
Yup, works!
I also took this opportunity to replace the rusty reflector and off-brand glass on the driver's side. What's the difference? Well, see for yourself.
One has the Bosch logo, the other does not.
Also, the speckled pattern at the top of the glass is much more uniform on the Bosch one, and the ribs in the glass are more defined.
