The General Purpose Simulator (GPS) analog computer was used during development of NASA's Apollo Saturn V rocket to implement a 12 degree of freedom simulation of the first stage, taking effects like dynamic winds, bending of the rocket structure, and fuel slosh into account. These simulations could be run 3,000 times faster than real-time. The system contained 50 integrators, 50 summers, 350 coefficient potentiometers, 20 quarter square multipliers, and 15 function generators (containing an additional 70 operational amplifiers). Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Alabama 1966.
