It has been a few years since racing the 914-6 vintage car but if I remember correctly the tire wear pictured is from the suspension being too loose. The wear should be even no matter what direction you are racing. I ran those old fashion Goodyear cantilever slicks and needed the bushings and such to be replaced and some testing to make sure the tire(s) were planted correctly such that the wear was even across the tire wear surfaces. This also included anti-sway bars to prevent the inside front tire from lifting as you see many old 911s and 356s doing in tight turns.
It took me and the guys at Black Forest in San Diego to get things right and although it cost some the tire wear was even. I have a couple tires used by NASCAR (Goodyears) and they show about 30% wear due to the huge amount of negative camber in the front end and similar in the rear?
