I have astigmatism and do not absolutely need distance correct but I do absolutely need correction for seeing things up close. Otherwise, reading is impossible. I have both prescription progressive and non-prescription sunglasses.
I understand what polarized lenses are and the phenomena they cause, but I also know they are vastly superior to non-polarized lenses. Specifically, at filtering glare. Glare, more than brightness, is what we wear sunglasses to tame.
I am another Vuarnet fan. Certain yellow lenses, similar to what we see on Byron's homely face (just kidding, Byron) above, actually make a grey day look sunny and improve the detail we can see in those conditions. I have been meaning to get some. For driving in the PNW where our two main weather conditions are Rain and Fog.
