Not a matter of “like”. A matter of $8k to remove (requires a crane as there is no access for any equipment near the trunk and it leans over the house, as do several other trees). We live in a jungle. If it’s a healthy oak, I see no reason to remove it. Easily a 70 year old tree.

Will likely never know if this helps or not, but just installed shields. They seem to do a good job of deflecting away from the tree. Sorry for lousy pics…pouring rain right now. Note in the first pic, another mature red oak just a few feet away with perfect bark. Called the Ag center but closed for Juneteenth. Left a message.
