A different way to think about it found on another site...

Does anyone else not have much sympathy for billionaire thrill seekers?
The missing Titanic submersible seems to be garnering so much media attention and sympathy and I can't help but feel like it seems like it was an obvious death trap to a place people should not be going and money is being spent to rescue these (mostly) millionaires and billionaires that even though they could repay it in a second they never will even if they get rescued. Yeah, it seems like a terrible way to die, but much less deserving people die in worse ways than that every day and almost no one cares. So, I put it to people whose opinions I respect more than most, am I lacking empathy I should still be able to muster up for these rich presumably *******s?

I shed tears for the people and babies who drowned in the Mediterranean, and a week later, I see extreme rescue efforts for billionaires who took a voluntary trip down to gawk at the final resting place of poor souls who couldn’t buy their way onto a Titanic lifeboat.

Another:
It’s hard to feel bad for people who have the money to do stunts like this because they’re fine ruining lives with low wages, high prices from greed (not really inflation), hedge funds buying up property to drive up housing costs, etc., etc. My empathy died for billionaires (really anyone worth more than a few million) a while ago. They don’t think of the rest of us as real people in their selfish games.

I just hate that tax dollars via government coast guard operations are being spent to try to rescue (at like 0.0001% chance or success) billionaires and a corrupt and reckless CEO who knowingly and deliberately wanted to risk their lives for vanity tourism when citizens or those governments are struggling to make ends meet. Remember when that kid fell off the cruise ship drunk a few weeks ago? Did world governments stop and spend millions to attempt a rescue? **** no, because he wasn’t rich like these *******s are.
