My brother is an avid bow and arrow hunter. He has harvested a lot deer. He was out wild boar hunting and at the time, any modern firearm was illegal when bow hunting. He had a perfect shot at a boar, and it "squealed like a pig" and ran right at him.
He had brought his replica cap and ball 50 caliber pistol and he pulled it as the boar got closer. He said he knew he could not miss, so he had to wait until it was close, very close. It dropped dead just before he shot it in the head. The arrow had hit in a perfect spot, but the boar was just big enough to live a few seconds longer than ideal. So he killed it twice!

After that, he started carrying a modern pistol.
