I started riding last week with my bionic brace for my knee. Its been jsut 7 weeks off the bike. Its a btich riding with the brace due restriction from the brace's limited knee angle. Not to mention it hits the top tube. I bought a slightly less cumbersome brace so now it manageable. Did 80 combined miles last week breaking it up to 20 miles per ride. I tried to keep my usual pace of under one hour on my 20 mile loop with a couple of small hills. No go. My heart and lung was about to come put of my chest, was all I heard. Getting old sucks. Going out again in a few to try to make that under an hour. After that, I have hump up my one mile hill to my front door. Got to get it done.

FWIW, you're probably still one of the fastest guys on this BBS even with your brace. My flat rides with modest hills will touch 19 mph average, but usually I'm about a 17mph rider
and here's the thing - I'm on the downslope. One hill I frequent has given me a PB of 6:47. I did it the other day, it felt like I was flying but only clocked a 7:53. A full minute slower. And I'm in my "summer riding shape" right now; sometimes I'm in the 9 minute range. Keep up your training!
