Here in TN, pure gas is still readily available. It is getting far more expensive but to me its worth it. That said, I still use Stabil Marine treatment all the time and drain the tank at the end of the season and run the equipment dry.
I also run 93 octane no ethanol in the `87 Carrera since it was not built to handle the ethanol and it costs about a buck more a gallon. For the newer cars, regular 10% ethanol is just fine.
To answer your question, use Stabil (or some other treatment of your choice) and don't let the gas sit in the equipment for long periods of time.
