Is there such a thing as a hard reset on these? I do know that older Jags (not necessarily yours) are very battery dependent. Alt output in range?
As with p-cars grounds are always a place to look. I had an early 90's Cadillac that got passed to me when my mother died and it was problematic. Turned out to be the engine to frame ground wire.
