Carbon Fiber update 7/20/23.
Carbon on. This stuff lays finicky as all getout. Not as sexy as I intended with carbon fiber weave orientation, but I realized this is tricky territory. The CF immediately starts to separate. Needs to be canted against itself for strength and not to fall apart on the spot. I am not a carbon fiber expert. This does not behave like your father's fiberglass. I am abandoning any future submarine projects. I should have watched youtube videos before starting. I should have had a way to compress the CF against the frame. But- this is not really structural, it's more protection. Assuming the epoxy dries (it's slowly getting tacky- so hopeful...) I will sand this flush and be done with it. It does barely pass muster with my "looks good enough to post to ppot" criteria, although I am not happy with the lay of the weave across the bb. At that point, it was a matter of survival, not being sexy.

I do think the final sanded portion will provide some meat for future chain drops and give me confidence to bomb doubletrack. That's about 3 layers thick at the areas trashed by chainsuck.
