On the occasion that I got it up to 140º, that would be a little too hot, but I never had more than red skin that would be fine in an hour or two. And I spent a lot of time up to my elbows in that water.

I'm sure that would be far worse for a 4yo, but I wouldn't expect more that 2nd degree burns, max.
