Both my daughter-in-laws have 2017 F15 X5 diesels. One has the 40d, the other an M50d. They've both owned them for around 5 years. Absolutely brilliant vehicles. Apart from routine maintenance, they have had no issues at all. The 40d has 180,000kms, the M50d has 175,000kms. I do the oil changes for both at 10,000kms and use 10W40. Both vehicles return around 8.5l /100kms.
Oh, and they both go like stink. The M50d is an absolute bruiser from 60kmh onward. In saying that the 40d is no slouch either. It's not a great deal different to the M50.
