One factoid I saw on a YouTube video. The Hotel California riff came from a guitar practice exercise Joe Walsh would play and I think Henley said that's going to be an Eagles song.

Hotel California came from Don Felder Sitting on his couch playing. The Joe Walsh exercise riff which became a song was life in the fast lane riff.
Felder is a great guitar player and teacher
