Sure they do. I remember, several years ago, talking to a friend who was too cheap to put new tires on his trailer, he said they have plenty to tread and not a lot of miles. Then he told me how old they were .
Needless to say, we were all going to a track event the following week. He had 3 tires go out on his trailer coming home. And even though I keep fresh tires on my trailers, but this still can happen.

And these were only 2 years old.
I started paying attention to date codes after one the guys that works for, had new tires put on his wife's car at a local Toyota dealership after they pointed out that the current tires were close to the wear bars. So, 3 days later, his wife experienced a tire failure, and the tire shop that she ended up at, pointed out that the "new" tires that the dealer just installed were 8 years old .
The dealership did make everything right, but those tires should have never been installed. I have found that some of the major chains won't even install out dated tires, even if you just want them for rollers.
