The horses are already out of the barn. It was 30 years ago that I was in college studying this stuff. If maybe back then we had made major efforts something would have changed, but who knows? The biggest problem is worldwide resource use. We (the US) are less than 5% the world population, and use more than 20% of the resources. The whole rest of the developing world is trying to emulate us, which means resource use and emissions will just continue to rise. I have no faith that technology will overcome this. We are just another animal mass producing to the point of habitat collapse. It’s unlikely everyone is going to die, but billions and billions of people are going to die premature deaths from starvation, disease, and environmental disaster. The writing it on the wall.
