Got a text from Mom
It said "Join me on Facetime" with a couple attached pictures, which I didn't click on.
(maybe it is too late. virus transmitted.)
Called her back and she didn't send the message.
Over the past few months I've gotten a dozen highly political texts containing roughly "Confirm your support for President X" and I replied "STOP" to each of the orgs. How did that happen? Somehow I got on a mailing list?
So either Apple is stealing it's user's contact data to impersonate customers....and spam it's services...or someone else is able to fake the sender....and my dumb phone is targeted for malware.
Another similar thing happened a few years ago. I received four or five letters directly from 'neighbors' asking me to sign up for NextDoor dot com. One was from a guy a 1/4 mile away. I looked him up and he was 92 years old. Another was from a lady around the corner who I knew. Went over and she was a little freaked out.
So how is impersonating another individual not very illegal?
