I had a family violence trial a few weeks ago. Cop took statement from the complaining witness (male) at the scene. The defendant was not present and therefore they took no statements from her.
When that cop testified he said:
- if both parties are at the scene, we take a statement from each of them
- then we decide who is going to jail
Genius didn't realize he said the quiet part out loud. No middle ground, someone is getting locked up. I did not go easy on him. He tried to walk it back but he had admitted what everyone believes.
