Ron Wyatt is one of several famous people who make impossible claims about having found biblical artifacts. I will not say that the bible is untrue, or that people have not followed the biblical text (or other historical texts) to make significant archaeological discoveries. However, Ron Wyatt is not such a person. I knew when the page first came up immediately that Mr. Wyatt was off-kilter because he claimed to have found the Ark of the Covenant -- a truly preposterous notion.
The people at Answers in Genesis have done a much better job of dealing with Ron Wyatt than I could summarize, so :

Additionally, as a summary of Ron Wyatt's work (and his accomplice, Mr. Gray), you should perhaps read
http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v21/i2/ark.asp -- read the whole article, it's quite good.
I do appreciate your attitude and beliefs -- the bible is, in fact, a historical document, and does, in fact, describe real events that happened to real people, at real places. However, it is always wise to be cautious of anyone who claims to have finally found some holy item, but who claims that his discovery won't be published in any major journal, either secular or religious.
