The fuel gauge was always a bit flaky but fairly reliable, until it wasn't - it started bouncing around like a Geiger counter in Chernobyl to the point I could actually hear it while driving. Well here's yer problem! I might solder it up and test it at some point but I have the new one to go in. Unlike this one it has a tube around it that I assume helps keep the fuel level more accurate.
All buttoned up for another 45 years hopefully.

Which unit did you put in? Porsche brand or one of the aftermarket’s?
I have been thinking of doing the same due to my gauge sticking but was trying to figure out which one to buy.
