There is no better test of reliability than the test of time. I bought my Focus 9 relay when they first came out in 1996 or so. Since then I have put over 30,000 miles on it.

I do indeed carry a spare German made DME relay in the glove box along with spare fuses, and a piece of string trimmer sting to get into the fuel door if that handle breaks. I have never needed any of those items yet, but I have them with me all the time.

My 1985 OEM DME from relay lasted until 2004, and 115,000 miles or so. I am at 191,000 miles now.
