Rio Negro (black river) is like iced tea. Water floods an area full of leaves and organic matter and steeps until the water takes on a tea-like color.
Rio Solimoes is faster moving and carries silt/sediment, so looks like someone added cream to their coffee/tea. When the 2 rivers meet, it takes a while for them to combine due to
