Yesterday I stopped by the hardware store for two items: self adhesive strips for the tub and a hitch pin for the drawbar of the tractor. I had a WTF moment when I looked at the slip. The steel hitch pin, with a pivoting handle on top and a retaining pin in the bottom, captured by a light chain, was$8.99.
A pack of 8 self adhesive non skid strips in a cardboard sleeve was$10.99.
On the surface, you might say: safety costs. On the other hand, you'd better not have your loaded manure spreader come loose and head on to a family in their big RV.
How in the heck can 8 pieces of plastic cost 20% more than an 8 inch steel pin?
I just shook my head.
