I had mentioned above that both ladders were tied off. I did that by nailing cleats to the garage and the house crawl space mud sill which is obstructed by the swamp cooler. Do appreciate your suggestion, really.

picked up the last few pieces of siding and spent yesterday priming it. Set the piece around the window today before driving an hour each way to borrow some proper ladder jacks for my plank.
