I was active in both Lions and Rotary clubs over the years, but since moving South I am not attached to a club. Lions were active with eyesight issues in children and Rotary supports various good things like Scouts, community improvement, etc. Each club had meetings each month, did community fund drives, etc. Did good community stuff, mostly smaller town oriented. Overall a very positive group of men, back then mostly small business owners, bankers, etc. with some retired guys. All had resources able to make contributions to whatever the clubs decided to support. Neither had a clubhouse, met in restaurants over a meal. Elks and Moose seemed to be mostly social organizations, had great parties. I also belonged to those over the years. Elks is more exclusive. Both had very nice buildings and clubhouses for socializing. Back then all were strictly men's clubs with woman's auxiliaries. I had an uncle in the local Kiwanis and I know they did good community stuff, not a drinking society like some others.
